This flaxen beauty needs a name
A year ago, a man was seen riding down a road, herding a band of horses. They were his, all related, a band of Missouri Fox Trotters. Homeless and desperate, he didn't know what to do, so when he had to take them out of the last borrowed field, he just started down the road. He was lucky that day, he and his band were helped by a fantastic woman with many horse connections. The horses were taken in, given basic care (as was the man) and were being adopted out to her friends. In the process of seeking help, the woman reached out to Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, and we offered our resources as back up should she need it. In the spring of 2017, we welcomed one mare, Tess, a tiny beauty who we enjoyed for six months before she went out in November on a foster to adopt contract, and is much loved. Now, one more mare from that homeless herd needs us; this 9 yo champagne colored beauty. She's had a rough start; three babies born (but only one lived), and this year, the loss of her herd and three different locations, so she's a bit jumpy... but she ADORES humans and attention. She is fierce with other horses but her recent year may explain why. She's about 14.1 hh, sound, gaited, and green broke, needs miles and a loving family. And she needs a name. Our name, Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, was chosen because we consider being a "sanctuary" our most important feature. Being a sanctuary is our gift to the horses here. We cannot welcome them all. But the ones we take in become family, and we do everything we are capable of to allow them happiness. Adoption is one possible outcome, but it is not our goal. Only a portion of our horses are available for adoption at any time, if we feel it is the best plan for the horse and the farm family. Sanctuary is our goal. Sharing with you is our goal. Trying to change a few lives for the better is our goal (which started with ours).Some of our horses are selectively available for adoption.
