How it Works
DERBYZ NameGame functions as a social online fundraising platform, set up in the form of an interactive, online game, with a real life goal.
Examples of a NameGame might be to name a new colt, puppy or kitten at an animal shelter, or to select the name of your high school's new mascot, or decide on your local little league's team name. Any person or organization may host a NameGame, as long as they fall within the acceptable use guidelines. For examples, check out our Current Games pageOur guidelines (based on standard retrictions such as those used by Paypal) may be seen under the Legal Stuff -> Terms and Conditions.
To host a NameGame, go to Host a NameGame" and follow the instructions to register you or your organization as a Host. (Each host needs at least one authorized person to register as an administrator.) Hosts must be approved. Once a Host is approved the administrator(s) may will have access to Create a NameGame.
DERBYZ NameGames last from three days to several weeks, but we suggest 4-7 days. While we do not promote your game directly, our experts have assembled guides and tutorial to assist you in promoting your game.
Players may be anyone, but will primarily be comprised of friends and supporters of the game Host. Playing the game is easy. The Player just chooses the name shes like best and the amount to contribute and clicks the pay with PayPal button. Play is in realtime, so Players can watch as their favorite names advance across the field. Players may spend as much and play as often as they like. Derbyz will automatically email the Host and the Players when there is a lead change, to notify that there is two hours left and at the end of the game.
At the end of the race, the name that has amassed the most funds wins.
The game Host generates revenue by providing an entertaining competition for the Players. Players have fun and get to share in the descion making process with others and their Host.
Emagine Games is the creator of the game software and is the service provider of DERBYZ NameGames. We provide the framework for the game play and payment flow through Paypal. The game Host is the primary receiver of the money spent by Players. Both PayPal and Emagine games collect a small transaction fee for each play. (See Legal Stuff -> Payments for further details.)
